A. State True or False :-

1. RAM stands for Random Access Memory.                                                     True

2. The Primary memory has a limited storage capacity.                                  True

3. Memory Card is approximately of the size of postage stamp.                    True

4. A hard disk is very small in size.                                                                     False

5. A Flash Drive is very small in size and re-writable.                                       False

C. Fill in the blanks :

{ Pen drive, Primary, DVD, temporarily, Bit }

1. Primary  .memory is permanently fixed inside the computer in the form of a hard disk.

2. A Flash Drive is popularly known as   pen drive .

3. Bit     is the smallest unit of memory.

4. DVD   is the example of secondary memory.

5. Internal memory    temporarily     stores data.

D. Write the full form of following abbreviations.?

1) ALU : Arithmetic Logic Unit

2) HDD : Hard Disk

3) BRD : Blue Ray Disk

4) CPU : Central Processing Unit

5) DVD : Digital Versatile Disk

E. Answer the following questions :-

1. What do you understand by computer memory ? Write its types.

Ans : Memory is one of the main components of the computer, as it stores all the data

for processing and future use.

There are two type of memory :

a)     Primary memory : RAM , ROM

b)     Secondary Memory : Hard Disk, Floppy Disk, CD/DVD, Flash Disk

2. What is internal memory?

Ans:  The main memory / primary memory which place inside the computer is called internal memory.

(This is the computer's main memory which is fixed inside the CPU on motherboard and it is the fastest of all other data storage.

This memory temporarily stores data while programs are running. CPU can directly read and write on this memory. Primary Memory is the place and process to store and to record information.)

3. Differentiate between RAM and ROM. Mention any two points.

Ans:

RAM

ROM

1)     Random Access Memory

2)     Stores  data and program during and after processing

3)     Stores information temporarily

4)     It’s processing is Very fast, but uses a lot of power

5)     Volatile

1)     Read Only Memory

2)     Stored by manufactures

3)     Stores instructions (information) Permanently

4)     Fast, but uses very little power

5)     Non-Volatile

4. What is hard disk ?

Ans: Hard disk is an inbuilt storage medium. It is the main storage medium for computer. It is fixed inside the CPU box.

(It has large capacity on which we can store large amount of data.  All the programs and data of computer are stored in it.

Hard disks is made up of multiple disks also called, hard platters of metal. The hard disks can store up to 2 TB to 5 TB of data.)

5. Write three features of Flash Drive.

Ans: 1) It is flash memory data storage devices integrated with a USB interface.

2) It is also called USB drives, thumb drives or pen drives.

3) They are typically small, lightweight, removable, rewritable and easy to carry.

4) It operates fastly and is capable of holding more data than CD and floppy are more reliable.

5) Data capacity : 512 MB, 2GB, 8GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64GB etc.
