Computer Science
Class-VI
Lesson-2  Computer Peripherals

Fill in the blanks:-
1. Keyboard is most common _Input _device is used today.
2. Computers produce audio data that requires output devices such as Speaker  and   headphone  to deliver the sound to you.
3. Plotters create a _hard copy _ of a digitally rendered design.
4. There are three types of computer printers: ink jet, laser  and
dot matrix.
5. A micro phone is used to convert human speech into electric signals.

State True or False:
1. Track ball is similar to the upside- down design of the mouse à True
2. Digital camera not looks like an ordinary camera. à True
3. Light Pen is an output device. àFalse
4. Audio data is created by the computer and then sent to the audio card, which is located in an expansion slot.
5. There are 12 function keys on the keyboard. àTrue

Short answer type questions.
1.     Name of any five input devices.
Ans- Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, Joystick, Trackball
2.     Name of any five output devices.
Ans- Monitor, Speaker, Printer, Projector
3.     Name the device which is used to give instruction to the computer.
Ans- Input device
4.     Name any two pointing devices.
Ans-Mouse, Trackball
5.     What is hard copy?
Ans-hard copy  is a printed copy of information from a computer. It is also called printout.

Long answer type questions:
1.     What are the differences between mouse and light pen?
Ans-
Mouse
Light Pen
It's a pointing device. The mouse is rolled over the mouse pad, which in
turn controls the movement of the cursor in the
screen. We can click, double click or drag the
mouse. Most of the mouse's have a ball beneath
them, which rotates when the mouse in moved.
The ball has 2 wheels of the sides, which in turn
mousse with the movement of the ball. The sensor
notifies the speed of its movements to the
computer, which in turn moves the cursor/pointer on the screen.
This is an input device which is used to draw
lines or figures on a computer screen. It's touched to the
CRT screen where it can detect raster on the screen as it
passes.

2.     What are the uses of projector?
Ans- Projectors are display devices that project a computer-created image. The
computer sends the image data to its video card, which then sends the video image to the projector. They are typically used for presentations or for viewing videos.

3.     What are the differences between printer and plotter?
Ans:
Printer
Plotter
1)Printers produce a hard copy version of processed data such as documents and photographs. The computer sends the image data to the printer, which then physically recreates the image, usually on paper.
2) There are three types of computer printers: ink jet, laser and dot matrix.

Inkjet printers spray tiny dots of ink on a surface to create an image.
Laser printers use toner drums that roll through magnetized pigment
and then transfer the pigment to a surface.
Dot matrix printers, common in the
1980s and 1990s, use a print head to embed images on a surface, using an ink ribbon.
1)Plotters create a hard copy of a digitally rendered design. The design is sent to the plotter via a graphics card and   creates the design using a pen. Generally used with engineering applications, plotters basically draw
an image using a series of straight lines.
